Raleigh, NC, Sept. 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today marks the launch of Smoke Pollution Relief by FilterEasy. FilterEasy is an air filter subscription service that educates on the importance of indoor air quality and wants everyone to have easier access to cleaner air, especially those now affected by the wildfires on our west coast.
Wildfire season in the US stretches from August through November. The 2018 season has been one of record, affecting overall air quality along the West Coast. Smoke pollution from wildfires in British Columbia, California and Washington has caused devastating damage and turmoil. At its peak, even the healthiest individuals were warned to stay inside. Conservative estimates of those affected by smoke pollution in August are over 20 million individuals.
When there is smoke pollution outside, it is easy to see—that isn't always the case with air inside your home. On any typical day, home air is surprisingly more harmful than outdoor air. When air quality outside is compromised, indoor air quality deteriorates even quicker, and unlike outdoor air pollution, you cannot escape the air inside your home.
FilterEasy wants to make sure people in need have access to clean air, so they are working with agents-of-change all along the west coast. Starting with the state of Washington, FilterEasy is donating air filters to Front and Centered, a group that can reach the entire state through its 60+ member organizations. The donated filters can be attached to any regular 20”x20” box fan to create a DIY air purifier. Studies have shown that this method significantly cleans the air inside a home. FilterEasy is also collecting donations, with 100% of donations going to Smoke Pollution Relief.
David Mendoza from Front and Centered said, “Smoke pollution from forest fires is a real public health issue in Washington right now. Even though the air has cleared for many, the communities we work with have severe air quality issues year round. With smoke-filtering air filters, we can help those in need get cleaner indoor air.”
“We know that this is going to make a big difference for those without access to clean air,” said Thad Tarkington, CEO and co-founder of FilterEasy. “By partnering with additional organizations, and through the caring support of others, we’re going to be able to create a real and lasting impact. Everyone deserves clean indoor air, and together, we can provide desperately needed relief for those affected by smoke pollution from this year’s wildfires."
Kevin Barry, COO and co-founder said, “I've been following the horrific events along the west coast since they began. My heart goes out to all that have been impacted. I'm proud that FilterEasy can help play a part in helping provide aid to those afflicted by the poor air quality. We hope we can bring meaningful relief to those in need.”
